Network Computer not opening on double-click

When I double click on a Network Computer I get an error: "this file does not have program associated with it......". I can open the computer using the context menu to see the actual shares.

I have searched high and low for what file association got slammed by some in/unin stallation and haven't found it. Also, couldn't find anything searching various forums. Anybody know what the file association(and extension - like "Drive or Folder") is for a network computer. These are local area computers (with or without shares); the ones displayed when you double click on the "Network" icon (which I have enabled) on my Desktop.

    Thanks. Jack

Nope, I tried the directory association and had already tried the folder, drive reg entrys. Odd that there is never a network computer listed. I will figure it out myself. After all the open command works - so I need to dig into the context shell settings. Maybe I can find it that way. Thanks for the try. Good site to have for possible future screw-ups.

When you go into your registry, in HKEY_Classes_Root > exefile > shell > open > command both values show exactly "%1" %* ?

    AND

HKEY_Classes_Root > .exe default is set to exefile ?

Yep. That is what is there. I believe the reg entries I need are associated with "NetServer"

Interesting, the problem with things like this is that there are tons of fixes for the same problem because all systems are different. I am off to work but will try to help more when I get back. If you find a fix feel free to post it here and mark the thread as solved.

    Good luck.

Sure thanks. I can actually live with this - just one of those buglets that "bug" you. I seldom have to go to the shares on my brothers computer anyway.

    Found a solution.

I simply added the "shell" commands from the folder class to the "NetServer" class and it works.
