W7 and xp sp3 pcs networking
I have a 64 bit Windows 7 pc and an old xp sp3 pc. The xp pc has a dvd writer, a 3.5 inch floppy drive and 2 internal hard drives. I also have a netgear wirleess router.
Is it possible to set up the xp pc as a "dumb" unit (no keyboard, mouse, screen) connected to the router via ethernet cable so that I can access the different drives from the Windows 7 pc or any other devices connected to the home wifi. I don't necessarily want to run programs on the xp pc (though I guess it could be useful for background tasks). I guess it would be necessary to run an antivirus program on the xp pc.
Are there any other useful things that could be done with the xp pc?
If what I would like to do is possible, I can look up ways to do this as it looks as tho there are plenty of threads where networking xp and Windows 7 pcs is explained. I am just not sure if I can have the xp pc setup to run without keyboard, screen etc.
