You connected it using usb to 1 of the computers? What is the name of that computer? What OS has that computer?

What OS have the other computers?

What is the name of the computer that has the printer attached? Did you share the printer. Please post screenshot to prove.

Do other machine see that machine in "network"?

It's most important to first install the print drivers onto each machine that needs to use the printer.

This will allow you to see the printer and use it from the other machines. :)

I have the same problem. Here's my setup:

I have an old desktop with Windows XP SP3 with a Canon Pixma MP280 connected to it and shared on my network. My Windows 7 Ultimate laptop can detect it even though it doesn't have the drivers on. I can print on it remotely as long as my XP Machine is turned on. Now, here's my problem, my brother-in-law has a new laptop with Windows 8 pre-installed and for some reason his machine cannot detect the printer on the XP Machine. Now I'm thinking maybe it's because my Win7 laptop and WinXP desktop are on the same workgroup, so I reverted them to the default which makes it the same even for the Win8 laptop. Still that did not work. One thing I haven't checked though is that maybe when my brother-in-law connected his laptop on my wireless network, he did not choose "Home Network". And thus not being on the same "Network" hindered him from using my printer. Correct me if my thinking is wrong and please enlighten me with the possibilities regarding this matter. Thanks!

He must choose "Home Network", or change it to "Home Network"! That modifies the firewall rules.
