    check it out, any problems occur if you get a desktop gigabit ethernet card that is a DLINK and your router is a LINKSYS?

    No. Thankfully the manufacturers are yet to break TCP/IP with their own proprietary extensions

    In other words, you don't need to match brands for ethernet (although it can sometimes be a good idea for wifi).

I only use one at the present time (on occasion it's been beneficial to have one spare to use to set up another device), but I have rather a lot of video files I want to copy to my Home Server...
I have a pentium 4 pc that had built in ethernet on the mobo, i replaced it with a gigabit ethernet. I did a speed test at speak easy with the built in and got 60ish mb. I disabled that device and used the gigabit and i got 38mb with or without jumbo frames 7k. Something is obviously wrong? ...

Hi all. i have a gigbyte G21mx-s2 motherboard in my media center, i am on windows seven 64 bit, i have a HP pro Curve gigabit switchand a tp-link router. all my devices are hard wired through the switch and the switch is wied in to the router. the gigabyte website has no drivers for this OS...
I'm out of ideas. Tried several different drivers, and settings. Using a fresh install of Windows 7 RC. The drivers all seem to "work", by which I mean Windows 7 has no problem with them, but no driver I've tried will let the card actually talk with anything. It keeps trying to find a DHCP...
