What are the 'certain files' ? AV's have 'certain files' such as keygens, loaders, hacks etc in their definition list and will often flag them up as trojans even if they are safe (I guess Adobe, Microsoft etc pay them for this service). The AV's can even detect stuff in a zip or rar. How the AV reacts to such a 'threat' varies - ranging from automatic deletion to flagging a warning.
Disabling the AV in order to download 'certain files' obviously has risks.
I think you're confusing my remarks with the OP's, he never said anything about disabling his AV.
In my case it was a lot of MP4's from Youtube. But again, the behavior was utterly bizarre and inconsistent, nothing that would appear to be legit virus detection activity. Normally antivirus doesn't merely cause the download to hang infinitely or result in a corrupted partial file. But as I indicated above, my problem appears to have been dueling AV's.
The OP's situation may be different.
Some YT mp4s are not downloadable, but anyway forum rule 4 bans such discussions (as I found out the hard way).
