    Downloads constantly fail?

    Hey everyone,
I am having an issue when downloading certain files online. I keep getting errors. I use google chrome (most recent update), and also get the error with IE. When downloading certain file types, the downloads stop and i get a message saying "Failed - Network error"
My wifi does not loose connection, and i dont have any firewall even installed. I have avast and it doesnt shoot any errors. Also free of malware. Anyone have any ideas?!

    Thanks,
    Ben

Sounds like the winsock needs to be reset. Go to a elevated command prompt and type netsh int ip resetlog.txt then reboot computer

Just reset. Since the downloads were failing randomly, i guess i wont know until/if it happens again.

    Thanks,

I had the same issue, disabling Avast seems to have solved it. I've contacted Avast support to see what they say. Let us know if this solves your issue. I'm annoyed as hell right now because I switched to Avast after AVG started stealth-murdering my iTunes playlists (no prompt, log entry or recoverable file, they just vanished).

This is why I can't bring myself to pay for antivirus. Since the dawn of Norton, they constantly gank my system up, each in their own unique way.

Avast may have been blocking them as they may have contained unwanted files/programs.

Avast is not popping up any warnings and to be honest, I can't find where the logs are accessed, but the downloads simply hang at 99% or on RARE occasions "complete" leaving a corrupted file. Other times the same file that wouldn't complete before, will complete if I try enough times, or sometimes if I reboot or switch browsers.

The behavior is so random that I can't accept the idea that it is a "feature" of Avast. :)) Especially since this problem began suddenly about a month ago. Before that I had no problems at all.

Interesting... maybe suggests that Avast is conflicting with something? After turning off Avast solved the problem I assumed this was just a coincidence, but this problem first started to crop up right after we got a new wireless router. Does it seem possible that somehow Avast is conflicting with the router?

Yeah, I didn't think it could be the router either. But I think you nailed it! It turns out I did have BitDefender installed also. Turning Avast on and BitDefender off appears to solve the problem. Must've come up when one or the other auto-updated, because they apparently coexisted just fine before.

    Thanks!
