I am having problems with losing the network connection on my desktop when either moving a large file or when trying to print over HomeGroup.
I have a HomeGroup set up with a laptop and desktop. Both are running Windows 7 Home Premium 64.
When on desktop:
1. I can view or copy laptop documents
2. I can play music from laptop folders
3. I can view laptop pictures
4. Can view laptop videos
PROBLEM:
When trying to copy a 4.55 GB video file from laptop to desktop, the wireless internet connection on my desktop suddenly showed "limited connectivity", and the copying stopped. I try to have Windows reset the wireless connection on the desktop, but I completely lose my network connection and it can't reconnect. When I try to restart the computer, the computer gets stuck on the "Shutting Down" screen. I then have to manually power the computer off. When I boot back up, my wireless connection is disabled and I have to re-enable it.
One other time I got the BOSD when trying to copy this same file.
When on laptop:
1. I can view or copy desktop documents
2. Can play music from desktop folders
3. Can view desktop pictures
4. Can view desktop videos
PROBLEM
My HP PSC 1300 printer is connected via USB to the desktop. I tried to print 1 page to this. It started, but when it got halfway through the page, the wireless internet connection on my desktop suddenly showed "limited connectivity", and the printing stopped.
My equipment:
Desktop
Acer Aspire M5641 w/ Intel Core(2) Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
4 Gig RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter Version 1
Laptop
HP Pavilion dv7-1175nr w/ Intel Core2 Duo T5800 2 GHz
4 Gig RAM
Windows 7 64 bit
Router: Linksys WRT610N Version 1 (latest firmware installed)
Two bands set up (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz; both computers are connected to the 5 GHz wireless N network with WPA2/AES encryption)
I think the problem may be with the Linksys USB wireless adapter on my desktop, as I don't have these problems with my laptop wireless connection. Unfortunately Linksys has NOTHING on their website regarding Windows 7.
