It being tied to Windows 7 is quite ridiculous if you ask me. Unless Rapidshare on there end are trying to detect if you are running Windows 7 or not and throttle down...but why would other sites be unaffected? It is a Rapidshare problem.
1. In a way, it is also a Windows 7 problem. Perhaps there's something with the network or adaptor's settings which is causing this problem with Rapidshare. On the very first day after I got broadband access at my new place, it was fine. That was the 29th of November 2009. After that, it's been **** all the way.
2. DEFINITELY and in more ways than one. I'm just pissed they gave me that bull**** and expected me to fall for it. I was in the IT industry quite some years back and despite not being a high level system administrator or equivalent, I know bull**** when I see it. It'd be better if they hadn't put a name below and simply add a postscript saying, 'This is a dumbarsed computer generated response to what WE assume to be YOUR problem. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we hope you'll be dumb enough to continue using our services.'.
In my experience, Rapidshare is nearly always the slowest service of its type--behind Megaupload, zShare, Badongo, etc. I often wonder why it has any customers at all when there appear to be so many alternatives.
Not in my part of the world. I found Rapidshare much better than Megaupload before this problem. The only reason I signed up for Megaupload was because I was getting some money from sharing files through them last time but now that they're changed their points allocation system, it takes 1 year to accumulate what used to take me weeks.

Before playing "The Blame Game" a lot of ISP's are now trying to be Judge Jury and Executioner all at once.
If they suspect you are using a File Sharing service to down load (or especially Upload) anything at all these days they will throttle your speed at the drop of a hat. Doesn't matter if the file is "Legal" or not.
It probably isn't Rapidshare at all.
A good solution is to find if you can another ISP who either is based OUTSIDE the country trying to implement these laws or go via a Proxy.
As this is "near to the bone" as far as the Forum Rules are concerned - Rapidshare has a lot of "unlicensed stuff" on it then you'll have to google further - but the problem I'm 100% is NOT with Rapidshare.
Sometimes also servers like these deliberately throttle stuff to entice you into paying for a faster or "Premium" service.

I was just thinking if that's the case, wouldn't Megaupload have gotten the throttle as well? Its downloads work fine, as fast as my account is due for. In fact, with all the talk about torrent based downloads being monitored and throttled by a large number of ISPs worldwide, I still get very good speeds. If only my Rapidshare is half that speed instead of the measly less than 10kb/s I'm getting now. By the way, I'm having that problem on both notebooks, one with Windows 7 Home Edition, the other with Windows 7 Ultimate.
ps. I've been a premium member with both Megaupload and Rapidshare for more than 4 years now.That's why I'm bitching so much.
