problems with computers accessing shared folders

I have a local network with 4 computers where I am trying to allow all computers to access each others shared folders.
There is just one of the computer1 which is having problems accessing the other 3, which can all access each other as well.
It can see them on the network, but cannot access them, it just says cannot access or I get a login prompt.
If I use a homegroup, then it can see the folders on other computers, but cannot open them, simply nothing happens when double clicking, no error, nothing.

No problems with the other 3 computers accessing computer1 one though.
They are all in the same workgroup, all have all the networking shared, file and printer sharing etc enabled.

It has basic Microsoft security essentials installed.

I would think that the Homegroup would get this working although it should be working with the Workgroup as well because the other machines can all access each other.

Did you check the time/date settings on the machine with the problem?

Have you tried any system file integrity scans like running the sfc /scannow command?

using homegroup does not work and gives the problem as mentioned previously.
all computers have the same time and date
sfc/scannow shows no problems
