SSID & PCI question

Mod, if needed please move to correct board.

I have a new windows 7 computer that can see wireless connection provided the wireless equipment broadcast the ssid. I am looking into getting wireless pci card for windows 98se . I got rid of xp on that same system (I had a dual boot setup). I mainly use windows 7 now. Win98se be used for games or software that can't be use on Windows 7.

My questions are
How do you tell if the wireless equipment broadcast the SSID?
Do routers broadcast the SSID?
Do wireless PCI cards broadcast the SSID?

I have high speed for right now. Got a special deal though my cable company. I tried hooking up the cable modem using to Ethernet connection. It didn't work for either Win98se or xp.

Yes, you can still get Wireless PCI cards for win98se. I already looked.
