Can't edit network document

Hi,
I have run up against an issue where I'm not sure whether things are working as designed. I have a home network - not a homegroup - that is composed of three machines, two running Windows 7 SP1 and one running Windows 8.1.

I login on the Windows 7 desktop and click on Network in Internet Explorer. I then choose to open the Windows 7 laptop, which presents two two network folders - one for all Users and the other for the one user on the machine, who is Abby.

The security settings for the User folder lists -
Everyone
System
Administrators (Abby-PC\Administrators)
Users (Abby-PC\Users)
All have full control with the exception of Users (Abby-PC\Users) which has read and execute.

The security settings for the Abby folder lists -
Everyone
System
Abby (Abby-PC\Abby)
Administrators (Abby-PC\Administrators).
All have full control. In addition, the Abby folder checks the box to include inheritable permissions.

When I open the Abby folder, I find that I have read only access to its documents. I am unable to either edit, create, or delete individual files.

When I open the User folder, however, and navigate to Abby's documents, I find that I have full access and can edit, create, and delete individual files.

I am at a loss to explain why I am restricted when I open Abby's folder and what accounts for the discrepancy between the two.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Thanks,

You mean User share instead User folder ....correct?
You mean Abbey share instead Abbey folder ....correct?

(I know the Abbey share point to C:\users\Abbey)

Post permissions on share Abbey. (used when accessing share Abbey)
Post permissions on folder Abbey. (used when accessing folder Abbey, so also when accessing folder Abbey through share Users)

Sure EVERYONE has FULL CONTROL on folder users?
Sure EVERYONE has FULL CONTROL on folder Abbey?

Kaktussof,
Ok.... the Security Settings I posted above where taken from the My Documents folder under each of the network shares - Abby share and Users share.

When I display the Security Settings for Abby share, I see what is documented in the first attachment -
Name: Abby Share Security Settings.JPG
Views: 17
Size: 55.4 KB

When I display the Security Settings for Users share, I see what is documented in the second attachment -
Name: User Share Security Settings.JPG
Views: 16
Size: 49.8 KB

I'm not sure what to make of the Account Unknown that can be seen on the Abby share settings. I tried to remove it but was unsuccessful.

I added Users (Abby-PC\Users) to the settings for Abby share because it wasn't there.

\\Abby-PC\Users\Abby brings you to same files as \\Abby-PC\Abby ? (just to be sure). All share permissions I saw are ALLOW permissions. EVERYONE has FULL CONTROL. What happens if you click on effective permissions in "my documents" folder (it should give you all permissions)?

If I click on the Users share, I see Abby, Default, and Public.
If I click on the Abby share, I see those folders actually under C:\Users|Abby.

The problem is not unique to the Documents Folder. I also don't have full control access to My Music, My Pictures, etc.

I first changed the tried to change permissions on the Account Unknown object to full control and then tried to delete it entirely. Each time, when I attempted the change, I saw a pop-up which said --

And error occurred while applying security information to C:\Users\Abby\AppData\Local\Application Data
Access is denied.

An additional pop-up stated that the changes may not be propagated properly, in spite of the fact that both changes were reflected in the Security Settings display.

I also added adding the Users group to the Abby share, with the same results.
