By default the C:\Users folder is shared while the Username folder with the "lock showing"> C:\Users\Username folder does say "shared" the Users folders inside it are not shared unless you enable sharing via the C:\Users\Username folder "Sharing tab>Advanced sharing button, add check mark to share then enable hit ok etc.

But if you create a Homegroup and enable sharing for all the main Library folders Docs, Music, Pictures etc. then removing the lock isn't required unless you require access to the other Users folders.

The defaults between SP1 and pre SP1 may be different, this explains quite a bit and so restoring defaults may not be what you want. As far as explanation, I don't work for Microsoft so my mission is not to explain things they do or why they do them.

In either event the directions to enable or disable sharing are in my first post. There are countless tutorials for this as well.

That's what i thought, it may be due to SP1. Still need confirmation on this.

Well it's easy to make both systems have the same sharing settings but I have no idea your requirements.

If you could tell me what the precise problem is then maybe I can help in this respect. :)
