I ran chkdsk on my primary drive (the one with OS, etc). Ran properly and without problems.

When I run chkdsk on my secondary drive, it says this:

it cannot run because it is in use by another process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.

It asks if if would like to force a dismount, should I do this? What are the repercussions of this action if any?

The machine has many problems none of which are related to networking. The networking problem only manifests because the entire system has been compromised.

If a person requires a bunch of virus scan's in order to have a chance at fixing the so called "networking" problem then they should have gone to the security section of the forum because the problem in reality has nothing to do with networking and everything to do with the system being completely messed up.

The virus's also cause the file integrity problem which I have also fixed on many occasion, still that is not really a networking problem but a messed up system problem which is all too often the case around here, I'd say about 70% of the time.

My advice for people with these types of problems is to have a system image handy at all times because it's by far the easiest and safest way to fix these types of problems.

Maybe with luck the multiple virus scan's and virus/malware removal and running multiple system file scans/repair> using the command > sfc /scannow can fix the problems but I would consider backing up and reinstalling even if you can fix the problem.
