Remote Desktop - Keeping Screen Alive

So here's my issue. On my VPS (Windows Server 2008 R2), I'm trying to run a script which needs a GUI. So when I'm logged in through Remote Desktop, the program works fine. However - once I log out, the desktop is gone, so it no longer works. I've got it setup so that the programs continue to run even after logging out, but it needs the desktop to stay alive while it runs.

Is it possible to do this in some way without staying logged in through the RD for a long time?

I don't know of a way to do what you want. I've re-written a few scripts (AutoIt) so that they worked while the screen is locked. What scripting language are you using?

I'm actually not writing any program since there's already one available - AutoScreenCap | Free Security & Utilities software downloads at SourceForge.net

I don't know of a tool that can take a screenshot while the computer is locked.

Can you explain what you are wanting to take a screenshot of?

A twitch stream - broadcaster won't upload it to youtube, and I don't need a full video of it anyways nor sound.

Getting the whole stream might be your only option. See this post.

Can this be done without a video card? As I mentioned before this is on a VPS, so it doesn't have one. I'll give it a shot when I get home later today though.

I have no idea. You will be teaching us :-)

If the hardware is located in your home, then you might try using VNC or some other remote control tool that does not lock the session when you end the connection.
