Since Ipconfig /renew failed we will assume at least for now we are looking at 1 of 2 possible issues. 1. A corrupted driver or 2. a bad usb adapter.
While you download that driver to your phone lets try a few things.

1. Unplug the usb adapter from the computer, Turn computer off, Unplug the power cord, let set for 30 to 60 seconds then place usb adapter back into a different usb port and then boot machine. Please post results of the ability to get the driver via phone as well as any result this step may have.

2> Open an elevated command prompt by clicking on start pearl and typing cmd then right click on cmd and choose run as administrator. Type ipconfig then either type in the results for IP address, and default gateway if any.

You should be able to connect your phone to the desktop and open the download folder. If you dont know how to do this please state what type phone you have (mainly iphone, android, windows) so I might be able to help you proceed with that.

what I need to know is what if any your Ip address and default gateway are. What does your connection icon in your system tray show? I assumed you can see the hotspot and are able to at least connect it but cant get a valid ip address.

I take it the power down and usb switch up had no results? Please let me know what your adapter icon in your system tray shows. it should look like this if your able to see and connect to the hotspot. it will have yello shield over it if there is no internet access.

Desktop WIFI Internet Issue - Connected, but Slow/Dropped Internet
I've been battling this particular issue for a couple of weeks now without much success. Browsers not working but computer is connected to the internet
Hello everyone. New to the forum. The title says it all regarding the issue I'm having. It started two days ago. I tried both IE & Firefox with no success. Our other laptop computer and all smartphones surf the net fine with no problem, it's just confined to one laptop. For security I use Eset...

Desktop kills internet even when no network connected, on boot
Hi, a very odd one, that has me baffled. My Asus M4A78-vm AMD 955 4ghz 2010 built PC has a legacy issue that when it is booted it kills my LAN at home and mostly shows up when trying to get onto the internet. It does this at power up (pre-windows 7 pro 64bit). It also does this when no network...

Networking two Windows 7 PCs via BlueTooth while connected to HotSpot?
I have two Windows 7 PCs on my boat (OK I admit it, I'm a geek!). Normally they are connected to the Internet via a 3G Wireless Router; they are therefore on the same Home network, so I can access the shared folders between them. However, occasionally I connect at least one of them to a WiFi...
