Local connection cannot get a valid ip config

    Hi Everyone,

Currently unable to connect to my broadband for the last 2 weeks i have googled options, upgraded my drivers checked ethernet cable all ok i have used the following programs to try and resolve this issue but out of luck.

    FSS Internet service Tool
    Minitoolbox by Farbar
    Tweaking.com Windows Repair (v2.7.1 V6.1 64 BIT)
I attempted to do the repair install via my WIN 7 disk but the version is more current and unable to connect to the net to get current upgrades.

My current network configuration is as outlined below

.... I have my PC connected to the router via ethernet cable. All other devices connected to the router via cable and wifi and are able to access the internet.

I have flushed out DNS and performed scannow.....

I have the following IP Configuration:-
    Autoconfig IPV4 169.254.99.195
    Subnet mask 255.255.0.0
Default gateway has no values showing

Unfortunately i don't have a backup of system restore prior this issue. I also took the machine to the local pc shop they performed some test and found they were able to connect to the net via some repair program.... but not been able to permanently resolve the issue.. i was told it was a software issue.... This all occured after i upgraded AVast on the 15th May 2014.

I have completely unistalled avast! now but still no good, unable to locate any info on there forums....

This is frustrating please help i don't want to wipe my machine out??????

First, the obligatory: have you tried a different ethernet cable? Is the ethernet adapter enabled in adapter settings?

Second, to narrow it down: Does your problem PC have a wifi card or can you borrow a USB wifi card from another computer? If so, is it able to connect via wifi?

If wifi doesn't work either then you likely have something configured wrong, probably the ipv4 settings.

Do you have DHCP enabled? Alternatively have you tried a static ip and manually entering in the router gateway address? Go to Network Sharing Center -> Change Adapter Settings -> Right Click on your Local Area connection ethernet adapter (BTW make sure adapter is enabled!), choose properties -> highlight the row for TCP/IPv4 (and make sure its checkbox is checked! you can also uncheck the box for ipv6 for now, though it probably doesn't matter), then click the properties button.

Is the button checked for obtain IP address automatically (i.e. use DHCP)? And when you click the advanced button does it say DHCP enabled? If it is and you can't connect, unplug ethernet cable, change button selection to manual and type in an available IP address in the same subnet as the other computers (i.e. if another computer is 192.168.1.5 make yours 192.168.1.83 or something). Copy the the router gateway address and subnet address from the status ->details of a working connection on another PC. For the DNS server, copy the same settings as the working PC's on your network (if they are automatic, choose automatic, if manual, use same server address they do). Plug cable back in and throw in an ipconfig /flushdns. Also ipconfig /release and renew because why not.

If still no luck please post output of ipconfig /all

Ok, I had the computer dropped off to the local PC repair services and i was advised that the Network adapter might be faulty, they also said they tried plugging in a wifi card but still wasn't connecting to the internet so it can be a software issue....

Attached are my ipconfigs as per request....

Did you try to install a VPN or did you previously use one? You shouldn't need the two tunneling adapters just for an ordinary connection to the Internet through a router. Disable those two by right clicking them in network sharing center->adapter settings and choosing disable.

You're also using ipv6. Maybe dhcp is only enabled for ipv6 and not 4. Uncheck the box for ipv6 in your connection properties. Disabling it for one connection should change it for all adapters/connections I believe. With ipv6 disabled make sure ipv4 is enabled and dhcp is too. Use the manual static ip settings in my first post if dhcp doesn't work.

I'd be very surprised if this were a hardware issue. And you shouldn't be afraid of wiping you're computer and reinstalling. Do it a couple times and it's no big deal! And it really is the only way to clean a system that has had one too many crapware search bars installed

Edit: I'm assuming your ISP hasn't instructed you that you MUST use ipv6. If they have, then ignore what I said about disabling it.
