    Homegroup not connecting between computers on same network


    i am using win7 on my pc connected via LAN and win8 on my girlfriends laptop connected via wireless and i have been trying to connect homegroup
    i made the group on my pc and when i tried to connect on the laptop it said that the computer could no longer detect the home group so i made the home group off the laptop and then when i tried to connect on the pc it said i need to be connected to a home/private network which i am as i am connected via LAN.

    any solution for either option?

    It sounds like you need to from a Public network to a private or Home network before the Homegroup can be created. The following link will help you do that.

    Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network

    Most other Homegroup problem can be fixed by going through the Homegroup trouble shooter in the following link.

    Both computers are saying they are connected to a private network and I tried the troubleshoot
