    Remote Desktop Problem!

A new computer was connected to the same router my main destop was connected to. I set up remote desktop on the new computer. It worked fine. I then moved that computer across country and set it up for someone. It connected to a router and was on DSL. Now, I cannot connect to it. Both run Win7 Pro 64. The remote desktop worked fine when both were on my router. Now, I cannot connect. The name of the computer has not changed, nor has the permission to connect remotely to it. How can I correct this problem?

Do the 2 computers have basic network connectivity? That always comes first.

Yes. They are both on home networks.

Remote Desktop over Internet is not as easy and straight forward as when both computers are connected to same router. Please see this tutorial (Option Two steps 7 & 8): Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network

This Microsoft article contains further information: Allow Remote Desktop connections from outside your home network

I will try those things. I did not configure the ports on either computer. Now the one is 800 miles away and used by someone even less capable than I. This will be a struggle. Thank you for your help.

You could try TeamViewer, it is an excellent remote access tool, free for private use: TeamViewer - Free Remote Control, Remote Access & Online Meetings

    See this thread, too: TeamViewer
