Glad I found this...same problem with an ASUS n56vz...just started after having this computer for 4 years or more. I have no doubt this will fix the problem. Wondering if it "became" checked while choosing a Power Mgmt scheme. I never checked it. Kudos to Chev65...thx friend. jt

Well, WHOOPS!!...nope...not resolved. Continues to shut down basically everytime I hibernate...and other times as well. Any other thoughts?

Here's how I fixed the problem in Windows 10.

    1. Right click Start Icon. (Lower left.)
    2. Left click Device Manager.
    3. Left click Network Adapters.
    4. Right click the adapter and Properties will appear.
    5. Left click Properties.
    6. Left Click Power Management.
    7. Uncheck this: “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
    8. (More than 1 adapter – do them all.)
I had only unchecked the box for the Atheros network adapter, but now also unchecked the boxes for the Atheros ethernet controller and for the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Adapter. Now we'll see. Thanks...jt

Nope...did it again. Got up in morning, go to computer...hiberating...wake it up...fine...but no wifi. And this time a program requiring a connection (netdania.com) shuts down because of no connection. Hmmmm...other ideas? Certainly easy enough to fix each time, but it's a nuisance.

PS...and another interesting thing was that a little windows popup warned there was some kind of problem with the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Adapter (one of whose boxes I had unchecked...as in above post)...??

...and the story continues. I disabled the Microsoft Virt Wifi Mini Adapter (Wireless Network Connection 2), and now the wireless adapter is no longer spontaneously shutting off. But now, every time I connect a device to a usb port, it shuts off again, even just a flash drive! I can restart the wireless adapter again, and it appears to stay on (until the computer hibernates again), but what the hey? (And now I get an error message from the troubleshooter telling me the Wireless Network Connection 2 is disconnected.)
