Windows 7 - File sharing issue

Did some searching and can't seem to find a solution to this issue.

I have 3 computers on the same network all using Windows 7 build 7000. 1 is 32bit and the other 2 are 64bit. The 2 64bit machines have no trouble sharing files between them but neither can access the 32bit machine. The 32bit machine has no trouble connecting to and sharing with the 64bit machines.

This is the error message i get when trying to connect to the 32bit machine (named ME-PC for illustrations sake):

" \\ME-PC is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."

Permissions are set so Everyone can read/write, not using a Homegroup (using "Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers"), password protected sharing is turned off. All the settings are the same across all 3 computers but fore some reason the 32bit one is being difficult.

I'am moving files between my Vista 32 and Windows 7 x64 computers with no problems.

i can't create a homegroup, and i can't share files between 7 and a vista pc

I set up win 7 on a partitioned drive that also has xp. I can see all the files when on xp, but I believe because of the home networking, I am unable to see the files on the xp partition when in win 7. any help in fixing this would be appreciated.

By the way, this is a new system build which works incredible in win 7. Everything configured by itself including the printer. I was so excited my husband checked out win 7 instead of going on the xp which has all his files. he does like many of the graphics and games.

I gave up windows networking a long time ago. It is far easier for me to shift stuff around via memory stick.

That was one of the things I loved about Ubuntu was the networking always worked LOL Mind you it was about the only thing I liked.

As far as I know Homegroup is a strictly windows 7 option for sharing at the moment, i'm sure that patches will be forthcoming for vista and probably XP. if you need to share items between Windows 7 and any other OS disable/remove the Homegroup in Seven and use the older sharing methods - I share files between vista x86 and Seven x86 & x64 on a daily basis without issues

why not give http://sync.live.com a try, it can sync selected files/folders across a number of computers on a network.

You don't need to create a homegroup in order to share files. In fact the homegroup feature is an extra security measure which also requires using a password to access your network files. If you are on a secure network you don't need to use it and it's much easier without it.
