My compaq Presario is not connecting to the internet via wifi or LAN

Hey guys, need your help. I own a Compaq Presario CQ62-230E1. Am using windows 7 4bit .Last September the motherboard crashed and I had to take it to be replaced. When it was repaired, I took went and collected it. At first I noticed that when I connected the Ethernet cable to the laptop there was no internet connection. Whenever I ran diagnostics it told me same issue, local are network doesn’t have a valid ip configuration. I tried connecting via wifi and it was working properly the only problem was that the modem had to be close to the laptop, like literally a few centimeters away. Recently as of one week ago it totally stopped picking up wifi from the ISP modem no matter how close it is returning the error wireless access; problem with adapter. The irony is when I try to connect the laptop to the internet via my phone whether it is tethering or hotspot it connects to the internet. My friend who is a computer expert thought it was a software issue but we downloaded and installed all the necessary drivers. We even went as far as to format local disk C just to be sure and ensure all the junk is chucked. He guesses that the problem is hardware suggesting that when they replaced the motherboard they must have interfered with the wifi /Ethernet boad. Any help will be highly appreciated. Alvaro:)

I asked around and i was told that the wifi and ethernet boards are not in the same place. Most of the guys i have asked around maintain that it is a settings issue...any help?
