    Password Protect Folder on Network

We have a shared network that requires a password to enter, however i want to place a folder on the network that has a password.
All users are able to access on the folders on the network as soon as they login to it but I want to create a secure folder that certain users can access.
I tried creating a batch file to lock the folder, this works on my own computer but not in the network itself, it says access denied and closes before allowing me to type the password to unlock or lock the folder.
Has anyone any ideas on doing this without the use of third party software or creating a new user because i still want certain users to have access to it

    Hi and Welcome to SevenForums.

Generally the way you would do this is using NTFS permissions rather than setting a password on the folder (setting a password isn't possible within windows without 3rd party tools / scripts as far as i am aware)

    Where is this network?
If it is at work i recommend you ask your IT department to do this but below is a guide that may help if needed.

If you are not familiar with NTFS permissions then this may be a lot to take in but check this guide out Permissions - Allow or Deny Users and Groups
