Problem with DNS services within my laptop running Windows 7 Pro

Hi,

I am problem with DNS services within my laptop running Windows 7 Pro - x64;
Network adapters: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller, Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030.

1.Followed steps below (as per some article) but no avail:
netsh int ipv4 reset
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns

2.Un-installed Ethernet Adapter and Reinstalled. Still not resolved. Restarting computer does not help either.

3.Increased timeout to 50000 milliseconds as per the instruction on one of the Microsoft article but that did not help.

4.Problem occurs when computer is restarted (every time) and stays like that for ~20/30 minutes.

5.Same problem for Wireless too. Connected to two different wireless networks which has access to Internet and encountered same problem!

6.Windows Network Diagnostics could not find any issues.

7. Restarting the DNS Client from Services did not help.

8.Attached errors/screenshots. Problem seems to related to DNS only. Can ping any public IP at any time but unable to ping any Domain name initially!

9.Problem is not with the Router/Firewall. I do not receive any traffic from my computer to that Router/Firewall when problem occurs.

Any suggestion please?

Thanks,
Suranjit

Hi

Have you turned IPv6 off within your adapter settings?

Hi Suranjit,

I'm assuming that this issue is occurring in a business network? Are you the Network Admin? Is your network's domain name called Domain.local or Domain.com? The Public IP should not be the same as your network's domain name isn't it?
"Can ping any public IP at any time but unable to ping any Domain name initially!"

Can you please kindly post an ipconfig/all output one coming from your DC server and one from the problematic computer?

I have turned off ipv6 settings within ethernet adapter. Currently I can't find that adapter under Network connection it's assigning IPs.

I have attached output of ipconfig/all here.
Actually I am not logged into any domain. However, I am behind a firewall which I maintain and made sure it's not causing any issues. I have correct dns setting in there too. Same problem happens when I connected to home wireless network!

This morning when I had this issue, I tried to restart the DNS client service but it failed with following message:
"Windows could not stop the DNS client service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Everytime I start this computer I can see several errors within System logs for 'dnscache'/'lanmanworkstation'/'nlasvc' services (Event ID 7011).

Thanks,
Suranjit

Thanks for the recent info provided. What happens if you use your ISP's DNS server and not any Public DNS'es?

Also, please assign Automatic IP addressing in your LAN's setting and see if this makes a difference.

Same problem when I use the any other dns.
Currently I am behind multiple Firewalls and either using public DNS or firewall vendor's DNS.
However it's working for others within the same network.

DHCP on my lan does not work. There are times when I saw the 169.254.x.x and had to define IP manually. Besides, having no adapter within Network connections under Control panel made is difficult. Need to try that from CMD if I try!

Thanks,
Suranjit

With these errors that you are getting from the Event Viewer, does this prevent you from accessing any network resources? What exactly are the main issues that are preventing you on not being productive in your work?

Every time I start my computer (either Restart/Wake from Sleep or network restarted), I am unable to use any URL. I can not browse any sites for ~30 minutes and these errors show up in the event viewer. Then eventually after that time, it starts to work.
During that time, I am unable to ping any domain name (google.com etc.) but can ping any public IP (8.8.8.8 for example).
