Is it possible to run a program on one pc from another if so how

I'm trying to run a program on my laptop through my desktop. Is that even possible? Both are Windows 7 Home Premium.
Ive enabled remote assistance connections in system properties, but still only see the libraries on my laptop. How can I run a program on it?

Ive found threads on ffiole sharing but that isnt what Im trying to do.

    Thanks

    Hello,

What type of program is it? What does it do?

In most cases I would say no, but there are exceptions i.e. Database clients.

Remote Assistance is for remote support opposed to running programs remotely.

    Hi

Remote Desktop Connection will allow you to run a program on your laptop from your desktop. Is this what you mean?

    Hi

First of all you need to allow a Remote desk top connection on your laptop. On your laptop, right click on Computer and select properties. Then select Remote settings on the list of options in the top left of the window. Against Remote Desktop, select the third option (Allow connections only....)

Then on your PC, type 'Remote Desktop' in the search and select 'Remote Desktop Connection'.

Enter the name of your laptop against the computer field (to check, Right click on computer and select properties on your laptop). You'll then be asked to enter a user name and password, please enter your normal log-in details for your laptop and it will then display an image of your laptop desktop on your PC. You can then run programs as normal.

There are some limitations on the types of programs that you can run (e.g. Media Center), a message will be displayed when you attempt to run one of these.

There is a problem to that, the Remote Desktop Server is only available from professional edition of Windows and upwards, but the OP said he has Home Premium on both computers, so, it won't be available on this particular case (I agree this is among the best choices, but not possible here though).

I can't remember any free program that does this efficiently, but Teamviewer is possibly the easiest choice to replace Remote Desktop, only if both computers have internet access. It's free for home use (not so for businesses).
