Unidentified Network No Internet access.

Hello to the list,
I have a problem with a PC of my friend that i had to reinstall the O.S.
When I try to connect to the Internet, cannot connect.

Under the taskbar, where there is the little one monitor that indicates the connection,
I see the blue circle spinning on it, but after a few seconds comes a yellow triangle.
If I put the mouse over it says:

Unidentified Network No Internet access.

The PC has as motherboard ASROCK K8NF6G-VSTA
and as Network card built-in Nvidia GeForce motherboard.
As operating system Windows 7.
As Router Linksys WAG200.
I also noticed that the little lights on the network card are not on and if I try to get into the router
with the IP address does not make me happen. I do not get even the id and password request page.
I'm sure both the router and the network cable are functioning because i use them on my own PC.
I am also sure that the build-in network works because i have tried to take off the Windows 7 and
installed the old Windows XP and it connetcted to the internet also with the light off.
Maybe it could be the network drivers for Windows 7 that i cannot findon the net.
Someone tell me what it might be and how to solve?
Thanks in advance.
Enzo

As per the usual instructions, we'll need to see the results of ipconfig /all. There are times, this problem is caused by something at the router config. I would point a browser at 192.168.1.1 and start checking things like DHCP config, etc,. Are there any other machines on your network? I'd like to see their ipconfig /all as well.

Since you said the lights were not on the router.
Check to see if it is plugged in to Electrical outlet.
Check all cords & connections to his router and computer.

If none of that works, try doing a full reset on the router. Depending on the router it will have a reset button or you will need to use a pin or broken small paper clip. You will need to hold reset button or paper clip for at least 30 seconds or more to do a full reset.

Use the default user name and password that goes with Linksys WAG20 router. Change the default password as soon as you can, then add the remaining devices back to the router.

If that doesn't work. You might need to download Linksys WAG20 windows 7 sp1 drivers from your computer for him. Windows 7 sp1 won't allow Unidentified Network to have internet access.

If anyone of the above doesn't work he may need a new router. Lot of internet providers are moving to docsis 3.0 modems.

I did not say that the lights were not on the router, but on the network card.

Yes it is plugged in to Electrical outlet because i said i am using it also on my own PC it has 4 ports.

I have already tried to make a full reset on the router but still have the problem.
Please where can i find the driver even if i belive that i need a driver for the network and not for the Router
as the router works perfectly on my PC.

Finally why i need a new router if it works perfectly on my PC?

Also, if can help, if I run the Windows Network Diagnostics, iget the following error:

Local Area Connection (LAN), does not have a valid IP configuration.

Thanks.

It could be the network drivers. I did find the drivers for your motherboard, but they're for Vista and you would have to install them in compatibility mode. Nothing I can see is specifically a network driver though.

Here's the link anyway:

ASRock > K8NF6G-VSTA

EDIT:

I actually found Nvidia drivers for your board, which includes the Ethernet driver:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_...bit_15.49.html

Try installing those and see if they work...

Are you saying both the router and the network card works on your computer but neither works on your friends computer?

Just a note, I was actually talking about your friends computer & connections. Cords and/or lines can go bad.

To answers you other question. In the U.S. cable internet providers they are moving to docsis 3.0 modems to support higher speed supposedly. Docsis 2.0 will be outdated and eventually be no longer supported. The cable companies usually give you several notices before cable internet stops supporting the old modems. That why I prefer renting and if it breaks you don't have to pay for a new one.
