Computer Name, Domain, Workgroup Settings - Purge

    Hi,

I'm having an issue with some Smart-UPS software during automatic login.

I'm running APC PowerChute Business Edition v9.1.1. There are three components to the software; the agent, the server, and the console. All three programs are installed on my desktop. My System Specs are current. The Smart-UPS is connected to my computer via a USB cable.

When I first installed the PowerChute programs, I did not have any issues, but I did a Repair Install of Win 7 Pro x64, because I accidentally deleted some files and folders in my UAC that caused IE11 to not remember usernames and passwords. After the Repair Install of Win 7, I couldn't remember my username and password for the APC PowerChute program and the only solution was to completely remove the program and reinstall. The issue I'm having is that when I start PowerChute Console, the program cannot login automatically as it did prior to my Win 7 Reinstall. I must manually select the server name from the pull-down menu and manually enter my username and password each time I start the PowerChute Console.

I had an extensive phone support with APC tech support where we reinstalled the program several times and made changes to my computer name and I deleted my HomeGroup membership. It didn't resolve the issue. APC tech support believes this is a Win 7 issue and suggests a clean reinstall of Win 7. I would like to try to completely remove any and all network, computer names and homegroups and reinstall the settings to see if the fresh network configuration and setting resolves this issue with the APC Powerchute Program.

Attached is a screen shot of what I see when I start the PowerChute Console. There should only be one name under the Server pull-down menu. The PowerChute Console is picking up these server names from somewhere and I would like to purge my system and reinstall to the point where the PowerChute Program only sees one server, my current server name.

I'm seeking guidance on removing everything related to what the PowerChute Console is detecting under the server pull-down and reinstalling so that I have the equivalent of a clean install. Perhaps this issue will be resolved short of a clean install of Win 7.

    Thanks for the assistance.

    Regards

This issue is resolved. As it turned out, my issue with automatic login to the APC PowerChute Business Edition was not a Win 7 issue as indicated by APC Tech Support. It was due to a login text file in the C:\Users directory that doesn't get deleted when uninstalling the program in Control Panel - Programs and Features and it doesn't get deleted when following APC FAQ guidance on manually uninstalling the APC PowerChute Business Edition. I edited this login text file to remove the bogus login information and my Console automatic login issue was fully resolved.

I passed this information to APC tech support as well with the suggestion they update their FAQ.
