A strange network problem after hardware change

Long Story of everything I did via bulletpoints :)

    - My brother got a new computer and gave me his old one
    - Put my hard drive and usb wireless adapter in my brother's old computer
    - Connected to netcomm modem and everything worked like normal
    - Installed latest nvidia drivers for geforce 250gts
    - Restarted computer
    - Device manager said that some drivers failed to install
    - Checked device manager and saw "ethernet controller" with an error
    - Assumed it was the Atheros ar5005g wireless adapter which i saw when installing hard drive.
    - Found the drivers on the internet and installed them
    - Opened teamspeak, chrome, steam
    - Teamspeak worked although my connection was "1000 ms ± 400" when it should be "40 ms ± 5"
    - Chrome didnt load anything (no facebook/outlook/google/etc)
    - Steam connected and was downloading a game update at 20 bytes/s... (yes bytes not kilobytes)
    - I connected my iphone to netcomm modem to see if it could load google/facebook and it did per normal
    - Restarted computer + removed Atheros adapter
    - Device manager said ethernet controller had no driver... So i uninstalled the ethernet controller
    - Connected to netcomm modem... same problem of things not loading
    - Put Atheros adapter back in
    - Device manager has no problems, Atheros is under network adapters and working
    - Connect to netcomm modem and nothing works...
    - Connect to iinet modem and it works per normal
    - (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
    - goto sevenforums and type up this

    Extra Stuff that might help
    - I have tried rebooting/power cycling the netcomm router, removing preferred ip, using automatic dns, etc
    - I have tried restarting the desktop
    - I have tried installing the recommended asus "chipset"
    - Desktop --> Netcomm modem = so slow it doesn't work
    - iphone --> Netcomm modem = works per normal
    - Desktop --> iinet modem = works per normal
    - iphone --> iinet modem = works per normal

    My old computer specs
    My new computer specs

Also my timezone is gmt+10, so my responses might be delayed

    Thanks for reading

    Hi there,

When you uninstalled the Atheros driver, did you download and install the current driver from this site?

I've never needed to restore before so I don't have any restore points

I downloaded from here then installed the certificate and added it to the atheros adapter. The atheros adapter works when connecting to iinet modem but has the same problem when connecting to the netcomm modem.

I think because my netcomm (NB6plus4w) modem is older than my iinet (boblite1518)... the netcomm needs the ethernet controller which i need to re-install somehow

I think i have fixed the problem by installing this and restarting, since the restart i can connect to netcomm modem and browse the internet successfully.
