    "No Internet Access" strikes again!

    Hi,

I have been experiencing trouble with multiple networks blocking internet access on my desktop last week. It was typical "home & unidentified" networks appearing together scheme with "No internet access" message.

Temporary solution was to disable/re-enable the network adapter. It seemed to be resolved by getting rid of Bonjour service as described in many threads before:

How To Uninstall or Remove Bonjour mDNSResponder.exe Raymond.CC Blog

It has been a couple of days now and whatever happened, after re-boot this morning a message from my firewall came up telling me about network connection nr.3. I was asked to choose a location by windows and whatever choice I've made it would always end up with local connection and "No internet access".

Network & Sharing centre does not show more than one network this time.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

    My desktop configuration is:

    Win 7 Home Premium x64
    Asus P5Q-EM motherboard
    Realtek RTL8111C LAN
    COMODO firewall Free
    Kaspersky2010 antivirus
    Ad-Aware Free 8.1.1

Can you show us a screenshot or 2 of all your services? Services.msc from start menu search, hit enter.

Sorry it took me so long...

Forgot to mention something. When I turned the pc off and back on a couple of hours later, the system froze and nothing worked so I had to hard-reset it. After re-boot it connected directly to the right network (2) and I've had my internet access back.

No idea what happened but I am affraid it will eventually happen again.

The snapshots were unfortunately taken after this happened so I don't know if they are any good...

    Alright, services all seem good.

What you can do is boot to safe "mode + networking."

This way, your av and firewall will not be running and that would be an excellent test.

Let us know how it goes in that mode and we can take things from there to hopefully get this fixed.

(The cause is probably incorrect removal of Bonjour. It's good to remove, you probably didn't do it perfectly and this happens. I'll look how to fix.)

If safe mode + networking = fail you'll want to follow this and should be good to go:

    My situation similar

I too have been having issues since upgrading to Win7 from Vista two nights ago. But in my case, when I boot up in safe mode + networking, the access to internet works like a charm.

I have an Atheros 5007 wireless adapter, tried getting the latest drivers, etc.

But here's another twist...it also does not get internet when hard-wired to the router via ethernet connection.

This issue used to also crop up in Vista every time IE8 was forced on the laptop via an upgrade. It would also knock out connectivity with firefox. I would always have to restore beofe IE8 came, and the problem would seem to be fixed. But there is nothing to restiore to after the upgrade to Win7

Check for mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager. Do you have that?

Ok, then you could check in IE.

Tools | Internet Options | Connections tab | Lan settings

Make sure nothing is checked. Then save. Restart IE.
