My Windows 7 user account system seems to be corrupted
I have been fighting what I thought was a Win 7 home networking problem as I explained in another thread:
https://www.sevenforums.com/network-s...ml#post2873812
But I have determined that my Del Studio 15 Windows 7 pro laptop seems to have a messed up user account structure. There are have five accounts defined in user accounts:
Stan Hilliard, Administrator, Password protected
ASP.NET Machine Account, Standard user, Password protected
Barb Hilliard, Standard user
Stan, Administrator
Guest, guest account is off
I don't know what ASP.NET Machine Account is.
This list does not agree with the list of users under [user] in Windows Explorer:
Barb Hilliard
Default
Public
Stan
When I first received the laptop new from Dell several years ago I created a user "Stan Hilliard". When I noticed the user "Stan" in windows explorer I thought it was strange but considered it equal to "Stan Hilliard" Today I tried to experiment with the naming issue by creating a new user = "Stan". I did this thinking the user naming might be related to my inability to make the laptops files visible to the XP and Win98 computers on the peer to peer network. Now I have both "Stan" and "Stan Hilliard"
From the beginning, I log on to the computer through the icon "Stan Hilliard" even though I have "Stan" under [users]. Now I have both. The new Stan is Stan_2 in [user]. I have been trying to access the network use "Stan Hilliard" and failing. Who am I. Could the username inconsistency relate to my networking problems?
