Diagnose internet disconnects with broadcom 802.11g network adapter ?

Hello,

I have experienced conditions where the internet completely disconnects, and the wireless network is no longer shown on the list to connect to, all wireless networks "disappear" from the list. I have tried many actions to try to fix the problem, reseting the network adapter, enabling and disabling it also, and following the windows troubleshooting guide. This continues to occur a few times per day on average. The only way I can see a wireless network is to restart the entire computer which takes 5 minutes. Everytime I restart the whole computer the wireless networks are shown again on the list to connect to! I don't think there's a problem with the internet service because this happens every time, but it appears that there is.

I would like to know additional actions I can take to be able to re-connect to the wireless network when it is shown to have disconnected and disappeared from the list and not able to connect to without having to restart the entire computer every time. Is there some services I can restart, or other settings I can change to be able to see and reconnect to the wireless networks again?

thanks!
steve

Hi there,

Are you using any 3rd party wireless manager/software?

Can you please a Xirrus snip capture from your computer while connected to a wireless network? You may download Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector here.

Hi, thanks for replying! I already have the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector installed, did you mean the "network export" option? That is the only thing I can see that it will save, here is the result:

I am using a Belkin Range Extender to boost wifi signal strength as I work from a hotel right now and the signal as weak. You can see the 2 signals in the list Netgear62 are the hotel's signal and the boosted signal but have the same name.

I have had this problem before I was using the range extender so I don't think it is related to it!

I think it is related to my computer as I've had the problem at a few hotels.

I'll be glad to provide any other info!

thanks,
steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the latest info that you have provided.
How about this?

Have you scanned your computer for possible spyware/malware/virus infections? You may use the free version of Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware.

Also, have you updated your Wi-Fi adapter's driver to the latest?

ok, no I don't have any other software interacting with the wireless functions besides the Xirrus program. I have active virus protection from Avast, and have recently run a number of scans including Malwarebytes. I guess I'll try SuperAntiSpyware.

thanks,
steve
