connect to LAN and WI-FI. get internet through wi-fi not LAN

so. i connect my computer to a Wi-Fi connection to connect to the internet through a neighbor's wireless router. also I connect my computer to a LAN network to my wireless router to stream files to my playstation 3 and xbox 360. it seems so far that i have to have the lan line unplugged for my computer to be connected to the internet even though when my lan line is connected the network center still says i am connected to the internet.
so while i am connected to wifi if i plug my lan line in i will become disconnected from the internet even though i am connected still..
any ideas.. wasn't sure how to explain that sorry for the repetition.

You could try changing the Metric number. to something other then 1, like 2 for the wired connection and set the wireless to 1.
By default they are set to auto and with that setting the wired connection will always win out.

Right click on Network, select properties. In that window that opens click Change Advanced Settings. In that windows that opens right click on your wired NIC and select properties. in that dialog box that opens select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then hit the Properties button. Click the Advanced button and in that dialog box take the check mark out of Automatic metric and put a 2 in that box.
Do the same for the wireless NIC but use a 1.

    Changing Metric to 1

The following is a step by step process as to how you can use wireless internet without taking out your ethernet cable out.
    1) Open Network and Sharing Centre.
    2) Go to change Adapter Settings.
    3) Goto properties of Local Area Network.
    4) Click on Internet Protocol version 4 and go to it's properties.
    5) Click on Advanced
    6) You will see a block checked there by the name of "Automatic Metric".
7)Uncheck it and then enter 2 in that section.

Save the setting and you'll be able to use wifi even when your ethernet cable is connected to the LAN.
