    share printer

    Hello all,

I want to share a Expon LQ-1170 printer connected to Windows 7 to WinXP users. Both of them have the right driver installed. However when I connected to the Win7 printer, it say I hv to install the printer driver. I know there are x86 driver check box in the sharing option but I do not have the XP driver files as I think both of them come with the Windows. How can I solve it thanks a lot

Try just checking the x86 driver box and see what happens, it is very rare for people to have 64-bit XP so probably because the Win 7 PC is 64-bit it hasn't bothered to install the 32-bit driver which XP wants to use, hence XP says you need to install the driver. I don't have any 32-bit machines to test this out on (besides virtual XP which may or may not behave the same), so your only option is to check the box & try it yourself :)

Thanks for the reply. My Win7 is x64 while WinXP is x86. I hv to install the printer x86 driver in the Win7 share printer page but I do not find the Epson LQ-1170 XP driver in the web. The driver installed in both Win7 and WinXP should be build in with the Windows.
