Certain programs do not recognize internet connection

Hi, newbie here

I built my computer about a month ago, and realized recently that some programs don't recognize I have an internet connection. I cannot login to Uplay for the first time, and Origin will not activate games because it can't access ea servers. When I installed my Adobe CS6 master collection I had to activate from the browser, because adobe couldn't access my connection. I have tried turning off the firewall, deleting the hosts file in my drivers folder, switching to a Google public dns (8.8.8.4) with no results. Sorta panicking right now

FYI I have a wireless connection with a D-Link DWA 130 usb wireless adapter

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,

Have you tried turning off Avast entirely and not only the firewall? Maybe it's the Web Shield: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=120336.0

yes I have tried that. I did have Norton previously, but uninstalled it and replaced it with avast because I read it causes problems with Uplay sometimes, but that didn't help.

The weird thing with Origin is that I can download a game from the Origin app, but when I go to activate and play it, all of the sudden it says it has cannot access the ea servers.

I noticed on another thread someone had a similar problem and they needed to post their ipconfig/all, so here it is attached, hope it helps solve this annoying problem

Ok, then I would try Nortons Uninstall tool to make sure everything really is removed. Any remnants could cause conflicts.

If it was me I'd temporarily uninstall Avast to know if that can be ruled out or not. It sounds like a firewall related problem.
Try disabling Windows Firewall too (if Avast hasn't disabled that already)

Your IP settings look fine as far as I can tell.

Ran the removal tool, uninstalled avast and turned off windows firewall, Uplay still can't find the connection, and origin still won't activate games.

Ok, but good at least you tested this. Now I think you can switch focus to the specific problems you have. I tried searching for those errors and got lots of hits, for example this one: https://en-gb.facebook.com/UbisoftSu...51767961367464

I'm not a gambler but maybe it requires router port openings?!

actually i tried that facebook example already, to no avail. It shouldnt need router port openings I think, we recently got new internet, had the problem with the old router too. We get pretty fast speeds here too if that is relevent at all.

There is an open wireless connection near where I am also, and that doesn't solve anything either, so it must be on my end.

Did some more digging, apparently some programs require internet explorer to access the internet, which (guess what?) it does not. Random sites will not load with the error "This page can't be displayed" e.g. Facebook, Twitter, and ironically, Microsoft OneDrive online. I do not have a firewall that blocks sites either, so....yeah.
