    DNS problem

    Hi there,

We have some internal websites that we can access by typing the address like 'wiki' into internet explorer. Unfortunately this doesn't work on W7. If i enter the site and ipaddress in the hosts file it works, but i need a centralized solution for this..

    Anyone got an idea?

    Thanks in advance!

You may need to flash your dns files. Press Win key + R to bring run command; then,

In the Run text box, type: ipconfig /flushdns
Press Enter or Return, and your cache will be flushed.

It will be better if you can provide Server details. What is/are the platform(s) used to build them?

"Wiki" is not good example to me, as the word itself has a different significance; You want to say, if you typed "Example" and pressed enter it followed the right URI path; right?

Please mention the previous OS too.

If you have multiple sites running in localhost mode, try entering the port you have designated for the site as well: ex: \\wiki:801
