W7 is locking shared sub folders/items

Hey there guys, I've tried numerous search variables to no avail to help myself without wasting space with another thread so here goes.

I've used the W7 x64 RC7100 release since May and have had great success with sharing items on my network. Recently I updated myself to the Retail version of the same(Ultimate).

What seems to be happening is when I share a folder with a number of sub-folders/items the items after the first "tree" are not shared and have a little locked icon attach to them. So say I share my E: drive, the first level of items is shared fully anyone that can access my machine can see it fine, but then they go into my drivers directory, and they can see a number of folders but not files inside when in fact there are many items to use in there.

What I am trying to avoid is having someone "log-on" with another user name on my system, so... If they are on my network, assigned an IP or even through DHCP, I'd like them to be able to fully see what I have shared.

Am I on the right page? Heck what do you guys need to know to help and understand more, just ask! Thanks!

Hello Inate8
Check the ACL of the parent folder and make sure that permissions are set to replace permissions on child objects. Also make sure that you are the owner of the folder and have full control permissions. Also make sure NETWORK is added to the ACL of the parent folder and give whichever permissions you wish.

If you need a screenshot just ask

Great idea! Thank you as soon as I get home I will check those permissions.
Seems strange that they don't allow that right out of the gate though.

Thank you, thank you!

This is what finally made it work for me. NETWORK. Too bad this isn't easy enough for non geeks. I mean I know networking is hard and all, but I hardly believe the smart guys at MS can't figure out a way for normal folks to do it.

W7 - XP shared folders
I have a fairly typical LAN with 3 computers using XP and each have shared folders. The router is a WRT54G with DD-WRT but I doubt that has any impact. Using any OS except W7, those shares can be seen and accessed without a problem. In W7 beta (build 7000 I believe) i never had a single problem,...
