My computer does not recognize the wireless adapter anymore

Hi, last week when I booted up my computer, I saw the Wifi signal with the spinning circle in the bottom of the screen (the one you see when the Wifi is trying to connect to the internet). This took longer than it does normally, and eventually, it turned into the sign that there is no cable connected. After trying some things, it turned out it was not able to detect the wireless adapter, and therefore wanted a cable. I rebooted my pc, and the problem was fixed. This process repeated itself several times, but now it does not detect the wifi adapter (even though it does try to connect to wireless internet in the first place) at all anymore.

I have tried replacing the wifi adapter with another one, but the problem is exactly the same. Does someone know how to fix this? If you require any additional information from me, please do not hesitate to ask me, for I really want to solve this problem...

What type of wireless adapter are you using? USB, card?

Have you tried all USB ports/PCI slots?

It's a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHZ PCI Adapter With Model No: WMP54G Version 4.1 (the kind of adapter you built onto your motherboard inside of your casing)

Do you have another slot that is similar to the one you have it plugged into now? If so, unplug everything and move it to the other slot, then test to see if it helps.

Hi, I looked for another PCI port, it was there, but it was blocked by the graphics card (it was located right above the PCI port). I did switch back to my own Wireless adapter (because to check if the hardware was the problem, I inserted some other Wireless Adapter), and now it works again. I've tried rebooting my computer and it works everytime. Thanks for the information you gave me though! I will post a 'Too long, Didn't read' down below for other people who have the same problem, but I can not give the solution, just tell what I did.

I opened up the computer again, tried moving the graphics card to make room for the Wireless Adapter, after seeing as it was strapped down with power chords, I decided not to do this, I switched back to my old Wireless Adapter, and attached the antenna to the back again, but this time pointing into a different direction than usual. I reassembled the computer, and booted it up. It al works fine now. Thanks gator!
