Remote desktop broken after latest Windows Update

I have exactly the same issue, that I cannot use any of my remote connections after the latest update. I aso tried what was suggested here. Both ways without KB2984972 and then with it and the fix suggested. I still cannot make any connection. I have Windows Home Premium and was happy when MS released RDC 8.1 for all OS. That only did not last very long. Any suggestions on how could approach a fix?

I have one machine with Windows 7 Professional and that system does not have an issue.

I had this issue for a week or so. I then realized it was after updates had been installed, but could not find out how to resolve it. I managed to uninstall KB2984972, but Windows update re-installed it. Then I found this post and it worked for me so I can now RDP to my desktop running Win 7 64 Home. Thanks a lot.

After uninstalling any Update, as soon as it's offered again you can Hide it in Windows Updates.

You should run install script after you have KB2984972 installed.
I've tested on x64 and all is fine.

After running as Admin, I get an error stating "Service name invalid" then the installer goes on to fail at all the pauses, except for restarting service, which appears to be bogus. At reboot, I still do not have RDC availability. Any thoughts or tips?

    Latest updates break RDP again

    All,

I followed the directions in this post a month ago and it resolved my issue. I just wanted to let you know that even though I had hidden that KB, today's updates on 11/12 broke RDP again. I unistalled ALL patches and it is working, but haven't had the time to figure out which one is breaking RDP this time.

Need a NEW new termsrv patcher - broke again

I used the new patcher about a month ago (didn't uninstall and hide the windows update) and it was working fine, until a recent update has broken it again. I haven't investigated further.

I'd be forever grateful if somebody can identify which update has caused this so that we can fix it, or preferably tells me of a new new termsrv.dll patcher

    EDIT:
I have discovered the update that breaks it is KB3003743, uninstalling it solved the problem for me.
Googling that update brought me to other forums/threads on this topic:

Is there a decent 3rd party solution that can survive Microsoft?

secondly: is it accurate for me to conclude that if I search all Windows 7+ systems on the lan for KB3003743 and uninstall/rollback that, then install the patch, that I'll be ok?
    really annoying
    thx

All I can say for sure is, I run Windows 7 Pro 64bit, and this is my lifestory:
I used the original termsrv patcher, which worked happily for a long time until the KB2984972 update.
Then I ran the new termsrv patcher found earlier in this thread without uninstalling KB2984972
It worked well for about a month, until this new KB3003743 update.
I uninstalled KB3003743 update and hid it so it won't install again, and rebooted, and now all is well :)

I think your conclusion is fairly reasonable.

In the link i posted above people were recommending "RDP Wrapper", but i don't know anything about it - it looks promising though... if Microsoft continue to break this, i might be forced to give this a go.

Will the same work for Windows 8.1 x64?
