Remote desktop broken after latest Windows Update

how about setting acl permissions on termsrv so that system account can't modify it and causes hotfix to throw error? deny all permissions except read

I uninstalled the patches listed, rebooted, tried the anon dot com link (which didn't work), got fed up and I installed RDP Wrapper. After that it doesn't matter what patches you apply. Stuff just works.

Windows update actually tried to re-install the updates I removed, so I let it! I don't care about no stinking patches...everything still works.

I have also removed this security update and this seems to have fixed my failing RDP session. I'm sure this is a temporary fix, but it does help a tremendous amount. Thank you!

I didn't trawl through any MS patches. Just ran the RDP Wrapper and RDP now works. Thanks BinaryMaster. :)

This seems to be broken again after the July 2015 update. Anyone got a fix?

I tried the TeamViewer recommendation back at the start of this because remote desktop has the Microsoft kiss of unreliability.
TeamViewer works every time no problems, no frustration, and I am sure the other options mention also work.
It's like Windows Explorer cannot browse your network, so you spend ages following the Microsoft advice and trying all types of sharing properties until you realise it's another load of rubbish you are wasting time on.
Then you download a free application, something like Cubic Explorer and Hey Presto, everything works! (AND it does not have the "Windows Shuffle" bug that refreshes or changes the view just as you try to click and makes you select the wrong file!)

And don't try Media Center.... don't even mention it in public..... just use MediaPortal and enjoy good software with excellent support.

I can't really think of any other features besides TeamViewer that are so clearly superior to the Win7 version that it merits replacing it. Explorer works fine for me. Media Center is popular though not included in the latest version of Windows.

Then you are lucky. I've had TeamViewer can get into a state where it does not respond to requests for connections. It might only happen 1 in a 100 times, but that is enough for me to have at least two ways to remote in to computers. RDP can get into that state too. Remotely rebooting the computer fixes things, but what a pain.

Then you are lucky. The contents of the navigation pane move around as new computers populate the network section. Local drives move completely out of view. Desktop folders appear below the list of network computers (23 computers at the moment). You just have to wait for things to stop moving, scroll to the folder of interest and hope that another batch of networked computers does not show up just as you are ready to drag/drop or paste in the nav pane. It really is maddening.

Nothing worked for me until I changed the port RDP was using.
