If you have a firewall, you may need to tweak it.
You requests aren't even properly getting out from your pc to the net (or back to you).

Some settings need to be altered.

You need to allow server permissions for the ftp server in the firewall. Also have to port forward in your router for your specific pc. If you are using default ports, forward 20+21 to your pc.

I'm not sure it IS a firewall issue, and it's not a Anti-Virus issue. Read back at Torrentg's replies given and check them out.

If you have a seperate firewall program, disable it as a test. I doubt that's the problem you're having anyways.

It's a configuration problem is all.

I don't subscribe to an ftp storage site besides the one Road Runner offers.
7 years ago, I had to access it inserting an ftp string.

Not sure, but don't most if not all storage sites use an http: addy and not an ftp string today?

You guys are forgetting something very important too -> the router, which acts like a hardware firewall as well. You should go and port-forward the ports 20 and 21 on your router/modem.

I, too, am using IIS FTP server and had no problems whatsoever setting it up, which was quite easy.

If you have another computer around, you can try to connect through your local network and see if it works. To know the address of your computer on the local network and not the public IP, just use the ipconfig command in the cmd window like shown below.

Sorry for the french console. And yes, I did remove some information.

Inserting the correct info into the field boxes of an ftp client works also.
