hey all i am just asking about a nice easy to use ftp server for windows 7 as for the ones i have tryed out are well lets say crap keep crashing or not responding or don't work how they are ment to so i fort i would give it ago see if you guys can help me out once more

I am using FileZilla. seems to work A-OK here. set to PASV so the dl can resume if a crash for some reason...
Tested with 4GB Download, at 500KBps speed, also tested on PASV to see if resume worked correctly.
 
Filezilla server if you are using Windows clients. In my opinion, it's solid, easy to setup and quite configurable. Oh yeah, it's free too.

You should set your Firewall to interactive mode.. so when ask you can allow the incomming to connect to the FTP. Other wise it will not work, no matter what FTP server you install.

To test this turn your FW off, then see if you can connect from another computer.
 
i have my firewall set to interactive but still can't get it to connect i have tryed turning both eset and windows firewall off but still no go as i used to use filezilla on xp and it worked like a charm

and bpftp is abit hard to set up can't seem to figer it out

ther is no IIS in ther i am not using windows server i have windows 7 pro sorry i should have said

I agree with what others have said Filezilla is a solid app, I have also used Serve-U server sw and it too is a great app!

Can your friend ping port 21 on your machine?

SF FTP Manager may not have been updated for window 7, but really, most ftp software works so simply that it isn't necessary to get one that caters to windows 7.

I use SC FTP freeware ftp software with windows vista and now windows 7. Works fine.

Here's what I got with my ftp client using port 21 (very common).
Error while connecting.
The address was not recognized as a valid IP address.
