Anyone know how I can get my wireless icon back?

I don't know what happened but as of a couple of hours ago my wireless icon in the notification area has changed to the Ethernet icon with a red X through it.

My wireless still works fine but I would like to have the proper one where it belongs.

When I boot up the proper icon shows and then it changes to the Ethernet icon with the red X.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Westport? Darien?

Didn't work, Rich. Tried both methods.

Now my dilemma is I can't get to put the icons back where they were. I got a message that they were adding to the registry. Restore?

    Thanks Rich

I would use restore back to where the first problem began.

Got a young lady just two doors away who is from Westport. Boston U graduate.

Rich, I just did a restore from a backup. Got the icon back but like before, they are all locked to the task bar. I thought the restore would fix that. That little orange mark on the icon is OK. Part of my wireless utility software.

Any thing in your quiver that will put me back to where it was?

I must explain- I tried to restore to a point before the problem occurred and the restore attempts failed.

Maybe if you remove the icons and then put them back? Type notification in search by the start button.
Before you put them back, boot the computer.

I'll give it a shot Rich. The Lab is locked up for the night so I'll get at it in the morning.

    Many thanks for your help.

This goes under the heading of "You learn something new every day". Thank you very very much, Richard.
