[CONFIGURATION]Configuring a PC blocked to Internet but Available LAN

    Hi All,

I have a PC with Windows 7 32 Bit & a Netgear Wifi router to which my PC connects through LAN Wire. What I want is to Block internet access to My PC but PC should be available in my home network so that I can use FTP, Http File Transfer etc services to transfer files to/from my PC from/to my laptops and other devices.

Can anyone tell me if this can be achievable if yes how can be done.

    Thanks,
    Sudhir

Disable the WAN services on the router if you dont need external connections.

    Hi ClassicD,

Thanks for the reply. If I disable at router it will block internet to other devices like my laptop, phone etc. I don't want my PC to communicate with Internet but should be on same Home network as my other devices so that I can make my data transfer easily.

    Thanks,
    Sudhir.

    Hi,
How about changing your default gateway to static?

sorry should expand as what barcrc has made me realise - set it to something other than the DNS you use.

How about changing the pc to static IP, but leaving the gateway and dns fields blank.

You can disable internet access at the router for one (or more) device(s) and still allow other devices access.

Badcrc: Following is the image of my router settings:

Please tell me If I block HTTP, HTTPS ports will that be enough??? or Do I have to block other ports as well? to stop internet access.

    Thanks,

I meant change network settings on pc to static ip, but without any dns etc. This should allow home network access (router just working as a switch), but with no www's from pc. See pic

works on my home network, but YMMV

badcrc is correct. Doing those steps should prevent most apps from reaching the internet. However, some infections will go hunting for the gateway IP and they don't need DNS after they locate the gateway.

If you opt to assign a static IP address to one or more of your computers, you might want to read my ramblings on doing so: Assigning static IP address on Linksys E3000 router? You can skip the video. Some things to keep in mind are written below the video.
