Windows 7 doesn't connect with internet when IP changes on router

Hello 7forums,

So my current broadband is BT homehub 3 (UK) and when i turn the hub off for a few minutes to change IP, my computer doesn't automatically connect to the internet if the computer is turned off.

My only fix for this is to ensure the computer is turned on, then proceed to turn off the hub to change IP.

Is there any way to fix this problem, so when i turn my router off to change IP, my computer doesn't need to be turned on so I can connect on next bootup with no problem?

thanks.

Go back to your Local Area Connection Properties (As per your 2nd picture) click on Internet Protocol Version 4 then click the properties button below it which will open another window and in the General tab make sure Obtain an IP adress Automatically and Obtain DNS Sever Address Automatically are ticked and see if that helps

I go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections tab then to LAN Settings to assure only the first item about Automatically detect. . . . . is the only thing checked. That's what the ISPs in my area use but others may assign Static IP addressing so you'd need to verify that with your ISP. I also set the Security tab to the Default levels.

i tried that before but i posted this thread in the forums but i don't think it worked as the PC still doesn't connect to the internet when i turn it on after restarting my router beforehand for a new IP
