Unfortunately it made no difference at all

The Nano behaves exactly as it did previously, scans but cannot find any networks.

Go to the Network Controller select Property's / Advanced Tab ... What is the Value set at ? ...

If you mean in device manager/network/wireless lan it is as follows:

802.11d - Disable
Beacon interval - 100
Wireless mode - IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Go to the Device Manager / Network Controller select it right click select Property's / Advanced Tab .. Where it says Value there should be a drop down box set it to Enabled ..
