    Internet Fluctuating

So I moved into a house for college a couple weeks ago and the internet was slow so we upgraded to a higher speed. Before the internet was just slow, but now it fluctuates as in sometimes its fast and gets the job done and sometimes it just stops working for a couple seconds. It would go on for minutes of workings then not working for a couple seconds. I have tried speed test and the speeds are around 40Mbps average. I tried flushing the DNS and that hasn't been effective and I don't know what to do now. My other roommates also have been using wireless and they have not been experiencing this. Can anyone help?

I assume you're also using wireless and if so are you further away from the modem than your roommates. Is there anything else wireless in the house such as a cordless phone or similar which can interfere with the signal

My roommates all go to college so there are no cordless phones here, only cellphones. Also, closeness doesn't seem to be issue since my roommate is farther away and he internet is fine.

Would be helpful if you had more details about your laptop so easier to try and figure out what goes wrong
