netsh wlan show profiles: Access is denied

If I try to run the command:
    Code:
    netsh wlan show profiles
even if I run the command prompt with administrative privileges, I receive back:
    Code:
    Function WlanGetProfileList returns error 5:
    Access is denied.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

When you have cmd open have you right clicked and clicked properties and under the security tab see what it says for user profiles(full control, read/write)?

If I right click on the command prompt window itself and click properties there is no security tab.
If I do it to cmd.exe the permissions are as follows:

    SYSTEM: Read & execute
    Administrators: Read & execute
    Users: Read & execute
    TrustedInstaller: Full control

I'm also unable to change any of these permissions.

netsh.exe has the same permissions as cmd.exe

I'm guessing that not only are you running it in elevated mode, but you are on an admin user correct? Also have you ever been able to run this command on this system or is this just the first time?

Have you made any recent changes and if you have would you be willing to go to a recent restore point and try that route?

Also I don't want to sound rude but just making sure I'm not sure how technology orientated you are but you do have a wifi adapter for it to find the user profiles on correct?
