Windows 7: Red X by LAN icon

Red X by LAN icon

I see that similar problems have been discussed before, but no suggested solution seems appropriate or effective.

Situation is that hitherto my router (Billion 8800NL) has been connected to my computer by Ethernet, and there are wireless connections to two items, and Powerline to another. Today I opted to remove the Ethernet from router to computer to gain some position flexibility Since then a red X is by LAN icon in Network Connections, but everything works as it should apparently.

Should I be concerned at the X's presence, and if I should, what action need I take to solve? Please

So far, no, as I want to keep, if possible that positional flexibility. ATM router and computer box are within 5' of each other. one on top of the desk, the other on floor diagonally through desk pedestal. Signal by computer is no that strong @ ~ -75 dBm through DW1525 (802.11n) WLAN PCIe Card. The other adapter is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

Sorry for any irrelevancies.

the red X merely shows your Ethernet is unplugged is it of no relevance if you are using wireless
if you wish to remove it you can go to network adapters and disable your wired lan and it will disappear completely or you click on the arrow beside the your system tray icons choose to customise and change your lan adapter to not show its icon
