Random Drops of Wired connections

I am trying to work around random disconnections with Nvidia nForce Network adapter- there doesn't seem to be a W-7 64bit driver.

I just purchased a D-Link DGE 530T PCI adapter tonight. It is listed as W-7 compatible. It did not work and there is no driver available according to the phone help. Any help would be appreciated before I chuck W-7 to go back to XP-64.

Post the harware id strings. Right click in device manager, on the adapter. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results to here. That's how we can find a driver if it does indeed exist.

Hi Torrentg,

Thanks for the reply. I have to respond tomorrow with the info as i took the computer offline for now and am leaving town as soon as the market closes. I was/am having some issues with the driver disappearing. The NForce drivers were also missing under system devices. I downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers (2000 series only vista available) and installed and I thought the problem of disappearing drivers was solved. Unfortunately, the random disconnects persisted. My work around was to install the Win 7 compatible PCI adapter D-Link DGE-530T only to find out a "compatible" product has no W-7 driver. (this info from tech help last nite) Again many thanks, as driver availability has been super frustrating.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm having the exact same problem.

Here is the snip:

I hope this will help both myself and JMR.

Edit: Oh, my router is different than JMRs though, the LinkSys BESFX41.

SuburbanHell,

Try this modified driver.

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

If it works for you, you'll have to find a way to permanently disable driver signing enforcement too. It does exist.

If you can't, then use f8 while booting the machine.

You might have to install using device manager. Right click on device, update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf and double click on it. Hit ok. In this case, copy and paste the .inf in my .rar attachment directly over the one in the Rapidshare link before updating driver. (I made this for you.)

Sorry for the idiot question - it's been a long day - just to clarify, try running the nvunrm.exe file on it's own first, if that doesn't work then copy/paste the inf in the other rar and install via device manager?

That's not an idiot question. Yes, you seem to have gotten the right idea.

Download that link now if at all possible. Sometimes Rapdishare has max 10 downloads and you could miss getting it.

Unfortunately the file in the RapidShare RAR is for 32-bit, so it did not work.

Ah, that might be the problem, I was using 15.51, I'll try the 15.25s now.

Edit: Or I would, if I could find it...Ugh. 15.51 is the only choice available it seems.

Yeah, I *think* I found the reason it didn't work the first time around -- I've got 2 Nvidia network adapters and I only updated 1. I'm running a stress test on it now to see if/when I get it to break, playing City of Heroes, downloading a torrent, and watching a long HQ video on youtube. IF this works then my problems are finally over. :D

22 mins no problem so far. Got about 40 mins to go though since I've had random intervals of connectivity between 15-60 mins before dropping, I'm feeling good about this though.

Edit: Looking at "Local Area Connection 2 Status" it says IPv4 Connectivity: Internet and IPv6 Connectivity: No network access - this should not concern me, correct?
