Internet through switch to other PCs

Hi all, a very Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you all got what you wanted.

I am intending to setup a mini network around my house. I currently have two PC's in my room that I want to connect via an Ethernet cable. I have also ordered a switch. Please see the diagram below followed by the references. Apologies for my lack of creativity/drawing skills. )

    Switch: 8-Port 10/100Mbps Desktop Switch TL-SF1008D - Welcome to TP-LINK
Ethernet cable connecting router to switch: CSL - 15m - CAT.6 Ethernet Gigabit Lan network cable |: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
Ethernet cable connecting switch to PCs: Your everyday, bog-standard CAT5 cable.

So, I was wondering if I would be able to get internet through to PC1 and PC2 using this method.

I look forward to your responses. If you have any questions, please ask.

    All the best,
    Daniel

Should work fine, my home network has a router and multiple switches. You could have gone with Cat 5 cable instead of Cat 6 since your router doesn't support gigabit speeds but it won't hurt anything.

That's what I was debating big time, CAT5 or CAT6, haha. I settled with the latter, because if there are any improvements in the future, I have the infrastructure as such that's compatible with it.

I take it your home network is set out the same (in terms of what is plugged in to what etc.)

    Thank you for your reply.

I have a router with all ethernet ports used, 2 of which have switches attached, the switches in turn each have multiple computers connected. All wired and wifi connected computers share the same internet connection.
