Please forgive me if my answer is not correct

I don't think you can give WiFi to your computer that is a Desktop or Wired.
It would require an Ethernet cable and a Kindle Fire does not have a Ethernet cable slot in it because it's just a tablet or a mobile gadget.

The Kindle Fire runs a modified version of Android. I know with Android you CAN share your Mobile Data connection to a PC using USB, and having just tested with my Nexus 5 it appears you might be able to share a WiFi connection via USB also.

However I suspect that Amazon might not put Tethering & Portable Hotspot into their Kindle Fires, I could be wrong but if they did leave it in you will find it under Settings, tap More under Wireless & networks, then in Tethering & portable hotspot click USB tethering when you have your USB cable connected. There is no guarantee it will work the way you want it to, and port forwarding might also not work properly, but if the settings are there you will at least get internet access.

I'm thinking of getting this device. At the moment, all wireless connections are off on my router. While I live in a safe neighborhood, I'd still prefer to keep things as hardened as possible. Essentially, I'm a total boob about wireless. Can you offer pointers or sites that can get me up to...
